A SIMULINK-based approach for fast and precise simulation of switched-capacitor, switched-current and continuous-time Sigma-Delta modulators

This paper describes how to extend the capabilities of SIMULINK for the time-domain simulation of ZA modulators implemented by using switched-capacitor, switched-current and continuous-time circuits. considering the most important error mechanisms. The behavioural models of these circuits are incorporated into the SIMULINK environment by using C-language S-function blocks, which leads to a dras...

Time-Mode Signal Quantization for Use in Sigma-Delta Modulators

The rapid scaling in modern CMOS technology has motivated the researchers to design new analog-to-digital converter (ADC) architectures that can properly work in lower supply voltage. An exchanging the data quantization procedure from the amplitude to the time domain, can be a promising alternative well adapt with the technology scaling. This paper is going to review the recent development in t...

Quantization Noise Shaping Degradation in Switched-Current BandPass Sigma-Delta Modulators

This paper presents a systematic analysis of the major switched-current errors and their effects on the degradation of the Noise Shaping for 4th-Order BandPass Σ∆ Modulators. The results obtained have been applied to design a silicon prototype in a 0.8μm CMOS technology. Experimental results show 8-bit resolution for 30kHz signal band centered at 2.5MHz with 10MHz clock frequency.(1)

Modeling of a Second Order Non-Ideal Sigma-Delta Modulator

A behavioral model of a second order switchedcapacitor Sigma-Delta modulator is presented. The purpose of this work is the presentation of a behavioral model of a second order switched capacitor ΣΔ modulator considering (Error due to Clock Jitter, Thermal noise Amplifier Noise, Amplifier Slew-Rate, Non linearity of amplifiers, Gain error, Charge Injection, Clock Feedthrough, and Nonlinear on-re...

Effect of non-linear settling error on the harmonic distortion of fully-differential switched-current bandpass Sigma-Delta modulators

This paper presents a detailed study of the effect of the non-linear settling on the harmonic distortion of Bandeass ZA Modulators (BP-UMs) realized using Fully Differential (FD) &vlrched-current (SI) circuits. Based on the analysis of building blocks, closed-form expressions are derived for the third-order intermodulation distortion of BP-XAMs due to defective settling, on the one hand, and to...
